Caregiver Support Counseling

Caring for an aging parent or a seriously ill loved one is an act of love, and it can be exhausting. Many caregivers quietly carry burnout, guilt, resentment and grief while trying to hold everything together. You deserve support too.

How we help

Room for your own feelings. Counseling gives you a place to say what's hard without worrying about letting anyone down.

Tools for burnout and compassion fatigue. We help you notice warning signs, set realistic limits, and build small habits that protect your health.

Help with hard decisions. Your counselor can help you think through care decisions, family conflict and the grief that often comes before a loss.

What we can help with

Caregiver burnout and compassion fatigue, guilt and resentment, caring for a parent with dementia or declining health, caring for a spouse or child with serious illness, family conflict about care, and anticipatory grief.

Who you will work with

Alyssa Sutton, LCSW, specializes in caregiver support and compassion fatigue, with a background in care coordination and chronic and life-limiting illness. She sees clients in New Brighton and by telehealth.

A note on matching

Who you're matched with also depends on your insurance and whether that counselor is in network with your plan. Most of our clinicians are also trained to help with concerns beyond their listed specialties, so you may be matched with a counselor who isn't named above.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us a little about what's going on, and we'll match you with a counselor whose specialties, location and insurance fit you. We see clients in person in New Brighton and Greenville and by telehealth, and we're in network with most major Pennsylvania insurance plans, including Highmark, UPMC, Aetna, Optum and Medicaid. Request a session below or call 412-438-3005.

If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, don't wait for an appointment. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 in an emergency.
